In our April Thinking in English conversation clubs, weโ€™ll explore topics like poverty, language learning, talent, and history. The goal is to give you all the chance to practise expressing opinions, sharing experiences, and thinking critically in English.

As always, every Conversation Club session is designed to help you feel prepared and confident, with:

Hereโ€™s whatโ€™s coming up in April 2026.

March Conversation Club Topics

Each week, we focus on a different theme designed to encourage natural conversation, opinion sharing, and real-life English use. As always, Iโ€™ll prepare discussion questions, useful vocabulary, and example answers before each session.

A schedule for the April 2026 Conversation Club hosted by the Thinking in English podcast, featuring various topics such as 'Ending Poverty,' 'How to Become Bilingual,' 'Talent vs Skill,' and 'Discussing History.' The image includes the dates and times for each session.
Thinking in English April Conversation Club Schedule

Week 1: Ending Poverty

We begin April with one of the most important global issues: poverty.Weโ€™ll discuss:

  • What causes poverty?
  • Can poverty really be ended?
  • The role of governments, charities, and individuals
  • Differences between countries and societies

This session is great for practising explaining complex ideas, giving opinions, and discussing global issues.

Week 2: ย How to Become Bilingual

I think this is a topic relevant to all of us language learners. This week we will discuss:

  • The best ways to learn a second language
  • Challenges and common mistakes
  • The role of immersion and practice
  • Personal language learning experiences

Perfect for sharing your own journey and learning from others.

Week 3: Talent vs Skill

Is success based on natural ability or hard work? Weโ€™ll discuss:

  • What is talent?
  • What is skill?
  • Can anyone become good at anything?
  • The importance of practice and effort

This is a great topic for debate, comparison, and expressing opinions clearly.

Week 4: Discussing History

Tuesday & Thursday: March 24 & 26

We finish April with a broad and flexible topic: history. Weโ€™ll talk about:

  • What kind of history you learned at school
  • Important historical events
  • Different perspectives on history
  • Why history matters today

A perfect session for storytelling, sharing knowledge, and practising past tense structures.
