- What jobs had you been applying for before you were offered your current role?
- How long had you been studying English before you listened to the Thinking in English Podcast?
- Had you been practicing speaking English with anyone before joining the conversation club?
- Had you been saving for a long time before you finally traveled abroad?
- What kind of research had you been doing before you made your travel plans (for your last vacation)?
- How long had you been thinking about your future career before you chose your current path?
- How long had you been waiting for that technology (whatever you want – games console, phone, car etc) to be available before you could purchase it?
- What had you been doing before a major change in your life, like moving to a new city or starting a new job?
- Have you ever had a hobby or interest that you had been doing regularly before you decided to stop?
