Earlier this week I released an episode talking about old countries. Specifically I focused on San Marino, which is one of the oldest countries in the world being founded 1,700 years ago, and remaining relatively stable since then.
While writing that episode, I thought it might be interesting to look at the opposite, to look at the world’s newest countries.
New countries are still being born in the modern era. In fact, the newest internationally recognized country became independent just over a decade ago.
Today, in this bonus episode, I’m going to take a look at five of the newest countries in the world. These are places that have declared independence, gained international recognition, and now exist as sovereign states.
And in the final part of the episode, we’ll take a look at places that could become countries in the future!
