A Quick Look Into My Podcast Analytics!
I run a podcast. The Thinking in English Podcast. If you are reading this blog article, I’m sure you know this. If this is your first time on my site – “Welcome”!
I started Thinking in English almost 3 years ago. It was originally a distraction (from boredom and from the pandemic).
Somehow, after hundreds of episodes and probably thousands of hours of work, Thinking in English has become a business. It has become my job.
And there are thousands of you listening now. I have tens of thousands of listeners for each episode I upload, hundreds of thousands of plays every month, and many of you also follow me on other social media platforms.
But…
Who are you?
Who are the listeners of Thinking in English? Where do you come from? How old are you? What gender are you? What applications do you use to listen?
I was really curious to know more details about my listeners. And after some analysis of my podcast demographics and analytics, I want to present the finding!
I want to share with you all the kind of people who are most (and least) likely to listen to Thinking in English!
Which Country Has the Most Thinking in English Listeners?

Thinking in English has listeners from nearly (maybe even over) 200 different countries and territories.
Out of all these countries? Which one listens to the most episodes of the podcast?
Poland!
Around 10% of my total audience is Polish. And Poland has been the number 1 listening country for nearly a year and half.
Other top listening nations include Italy, Turkey, Brazil, and Spain!
Which Country Has the Least Thinking in English Listeners?

At the other end of the rankings, there are territories and countries that have hardly listened to any episodes.
Now… there are probably places with completely 0 listeners. These don’t appear on the rankings.
So, what are the places with the least Thinking in English plays or downloads, but have listened to at least a few minutes of a Thinking in English episode?
Right at the bottom of the ranking are groups of tiny islands with very low populations – Kiribati, Saint Martin, and the US Minor Outlying Islands.
If someone from Kiribati reads this article, send me a message! I’d love to hear from you.
What Applications Do Thinking in English Listeners Use?
There are many podcasting apps out there. I use Spotify, personally, for most of my podcast listening. I used to use Apple podcasts, but I find Spotify more user friendly (I also don’t have an iPhone).
Other apps include Google Podcasts, Castbox, RadioPublic, and many more.
Which one do Thinking in English listeners use the most?
By far, Spotify is the most popular app among my fans. Right now about 77% of all of you use Spotify.
In fact, this used to be much higher. At one point, over 80% of all downloads came from Spotify.
Why is this? I’m not sure, but I have a few guesses.
- Spotify is incredibly popular for podcast listening right now!
- I make my Podcast using Spotify for Podcasters (originally I used Anchor which was bought a rebranded by Spotify).
- And there may have been luck – I’m often in the Spotify charts which is a very powerful tool for podcast discovery!
How Old are Thinking in English Listeners?

When I was starting my podcast, I had no idea what the ages of my listeners would be.
To be honest, I didn’t really expect to have any listeners…
But now I do have listeners, we can take a look at the average ages.
25% of Thinking in English Listeners are between the ages of 28-34, and 24% are between the ages of 35 and 44,
This means nearly 50% of listeners are between the ages of 28 and 44. And this makes sense – this is the ages of professional development and financial freedom.
These age ranges are looking to develop skills and improve job opportunities, as well as spend more time travelling.
Occasionally I’ll hear from listeners still at high school, but as you can see from the analytics this is rare!
Listener Gender?

55% of Thinking in English listeners are male, and just 40% female. This is surprising to me.
Why? Well, I hear a lot more from female subscribers and listeners. My Instagram, for example, is 58% female!
It is interesting my male audience hasn’t necessarily translated to other platforms.
The Most Likely Listener

So who is the most likely podcast listener?
They would be Polish, male, around the age of 35, and a Spotify user!
Leave a comment if this is you!
Least Likely Listener!

Who would be the Least Likely listeners?
A child from Kiribati!
Final Thought

Hopefully you found this information interesting!
Leave a comment with your statistics – I love hearing from all of you.
