This week the ‘Thinking in English’ Community is practicing the present perfect tense!
The present perfect tense is used to talk about things that happened in the past (at some undefined time) or events that started in the past but are continuing today. This makes the present perfect a really useful and common piece of grammar.
Here are 10 conversation questions to help you get started with the present perfect!
The Thinking in English Conversation Club takes place every TUESDAY at 12pm, 6pm, and 9pm, and THURSDAY at 12pm and 6pm UK time!
You can find more details on how to participate here Patreon!
Present Perfect Grammar
The Present Perfect tense is used to talk about actions or experiences that happened at an unspecified time in the past, or actions that started in the past and continue to the present. It is formed using “have” + past participle (e.g., have done, has seen).
Examples:
- I have visited Italy (at some point in my life).
- She has lived here for five years (she started in the past and still lives here).
We often use it with words like ever, never, already, yet, and since.
