Spotify Wrapped is now an exciting yearly tradition (especially for a podcaster like myself).
Every December, Spotify compiles personalised statistics for users, showcasing their most-listened-to artists, songs, podcasts, and more. For creators, Wrapped provides a unique opportunity to reflect on the year’s achievements and trends
This year, the Thinking in English podcast’s Spotify Wrapped was nothing short of remarkable. Here’s a breakdown of the results and what they reveal about my podcast’s growth and reach in 2024.
1. 70,000 Top Fans

The Thinking in English podcast amassed 70,000 top fans on Spotify in 2024. This means I was the most listened to podcast on Spotify for 70,000 people around the world. These listeners tuned in frequently and engaged deeply with my content over the past 12 months.
In 2022 I was the top podcast for 30,000 people, and in 2023 50,000 people, so the 2024 result is a clear sign of growth!
Additionally, the podcast was among the top 5 podcasts for 272,000 listeners and in the top 10 for 386,000 people.
2. A Global Audience

Spotify users in 137 countries listened to Thinking in English in 2023, with Mexico ranking as the top country on the platform.
While Spotify Wrapped focuses solely on Spotify data, the podcast’s total reach extends even further. Across all platforms, Thinking in English has been heard in even more countries and territories, with Poland, Italy, and Spain emerging as the top overall markets.
3. Attracting New Listeners

This year, 71% of listeners were new to Thinking in English. It’s exciting to see how many people discovered the podcast for the first time, whether through recommendations, social media, or organic search.
Spotify recently introduced a new “discovery” metric, which shows that I reach 1 million people a month on Spotify, with 11% of these people interacting with the show. Furthermore, over 75% of people who interact with the show on Spotify (clicking on an episode link or the show profile) go on to listen to an episode!
4. Steady Growth Across the Board

Compared to last year, the podcast experienced:
- 19% more listeners
- 17% more streams
- 67% more followers
I actually reached 500,000 Spotify followers in November and I am on course to reach 15 million total podcast downloads by the beginning of January!
5. Chart-Topping Success

The podcast charted in 14 different countries, peaking at #3 on one chart (likely an education-focused category). Charting signifies that Thinking in English is not only popular but also competitive among other top-tier (and much better funded) educational content.
6. Listener Demographics

Analysing the age breakdown of listeners reveals some interesting insights. According to this year’s Spotify Wrapped, Thinking in English listeners were a variety of ages:
