July Thinking in English Conversation Clubs

In July’s Thinking in English Conversation Clubs we’ll discuss football, confidence, the United States, and motivation. These are all topics that encourage telling personal stories, while engaging in lively debates and real-world communication.

As always, every Conversation Club session is designed to help you feel prepared and confident, with:

June Conversation Club Topics

Each week, we focus on a different theme designed to encourage natural conversation, opinion sharing, and real-life English use. As always, Iโ€™ll prepare discussion questions, useful vocabulary, and example answers before each session.

Thinking in English July Conversation Club Schedule!

Week 1: Talking About Football!

Tuesday & Thursday: June 30 & July 4

We kick off July with the world’s most popular sport.

Weโ€™ll discuss:

  • Why football is so popular around the world
  • Favourite teams and players
  • International tournaments and rivalries
  • Whether sport can bring people together

Week 2:ย Confidence & How to Improve It!

Tuesday & Thursday: July 7 & 9

Confidence is essential in both English and life. This session is especially useful for English learners looking to become more comfortable speaking.

Weโ€™ll explore:

  • What confidence really means
  • How to overcome self-doubt
  • Building confidence through practice
  • Personal experiences and advice

Week 3: The USA

Tuesday & Thursday: July 14 & 16

This week we’ll explore one of the world’s most influential countries. Topics include:

  • American culture and traditions
  • Stereotypes
  • Politics, history, and society
  • Travel and personal experiences

A great opportunity to compare cultures and discuss different perspectives.


Week 4: What is Your Motivation?

Tuesday & Thursday: July 21 & 23

We finish the month with a conversation about goals, purpose, and motivation. We’ll discuss:

  • What motivates people?
  • Staying motivated when learning English
  • Long-term vs short-term goals
  • Advice for maintaining good habits

This is a reflective session that encourages meaningful conversation and personal storytelling.

Conversation Club Times (UK Time)

All Conversation Clubs run at the same weekly times:

Tuesdays & Thursdays

  • 12:00 UK time
  • 18:00 UK time
  • 24:00 UK time

You can join one session or all six each week, depending on your schedule and goals.

Each session lasts around 60 minutes and takes place in small groups of 3โ€“4 learners, supported by trained English tutors (and me!).

Conversation Clubs are available to Patreon members on the English Learner and English Master tiers.

For ยฃ11.50 per month, you get:
