This week the Thinking in English Community is talking about motivation!
Why do we stay motivated? What helps us keep going when learning English, working towards a goal, or trying something new? Everyone is motivated by different things, and understanding what drives us can help us achieve more.
In this conversation club we’ll discuss what motivates us, how we deal with setbacks, and whether success comes from passion, discipline, money, or something else.
Here are 10 conversation questions to get you talking about motivation, goals, and what inspires you to keep going!
The Thinking in English Conversation Club takes place every TUESDAY and THURSDAY at 12pm, 6pm, and 24pm UK time!

Conversation Questions:
- What motivates you to learn English?
- What is something you are working towards right now?
- What makes you lose motivation?
- Do you enjoy setting goals?
- Is it better to have a big goal or many small goals?
- Do people work harder when they enjoy what they do?
- Is money a good motivator?
- What motivates people more: fear of failure or hope for success?
- What is one achievement you are proud of?
- Make your own questions!

- Motivate (v): To give someone a reason or desire to do something.
- Work towards (phr v): To make progress towards achieving a goal.
- Motivation (n): The reason or desire to do something.
- Set a goal (phr): To decide on something you want to achieve.
- Achievement (n): Something important that you have successfully done.
- Proud of (adj phr): Feeling happy and satisfied because of something you have done.
- Fear of failure (n phr): Worry about not succeeding or making mistakes.
- Success (n): Achieving what you wanted or planned.
- Motivator (n): Something or someone that encourages you to take action.
- Work hard (phr): To put a lot of effort into doing something.
