From the food we eat to the clothes we wear, to the languages we speak, our world is more connected than ever before. But how did this happen? How did the world become so global?

Today we are going to be thinking about globalisation. We’re going to be talking about how the world has become more connected over the past century.

At the same time, I’m going to be introducing a variety of “become” collocations. In English become is often used with specific adjectives and nouns to describe change and development.

These are called collocations, and learning them can make your English sound more natural, fluent and sophisticated.

So in this episode, I’ll explore the idea of globalisation while showing you how to use collocations, like become widespread, become apparent, become involved, and more.

By the end, you’ll not only understand globalisation a little better, you’ll also have a whole list of useful expressions to use in your own speaking and writing.
