This week the ‘Thinking in English’ Community is talking about tea and its history!

Tea has a fascinating and very old history. Drinking hot water flavoured with different plants is an ancient human behaviour, and the tea plant is one of our favourites.

Around the world today, billions of people drink tea and other hot drinks every single day. Are you a tea drinker? What do you know about the history of this drink?

Here are 10 conversation questions to get you talking about Tea and its history!

1. Do you drink tea? How do you like your tea?

2. What do you know about the history of tea? Do you think it is interesting?

3. Is tea drinking popular in your country?

4. Do you often drink other hot drinks?

5. What do you think of tea ceremonies? What about ceremonies for other drinks or food?

6. Do you think it is important to learn about the history of our favourite foods and drinks?

7. What kind of tea or other hot drink would you most like to try for the first time?

8. Can we call something ‘tea’, if it isn’t made from the ‘tea’ plant? Are there other examples of this?

9. Tea drinking begins with a Chinese myth. Do other foods or drinks have origin myths?
